Completed a double last winter, the second leg over C&D, struggled badly this season, tried in different types of headgear and given wind surgery before penultimate start, before he surged back to form with second at Huntingdon (3m) last time, that form puts him back into serious calculations.

Has an in-and-out record in his five chases but that includes wins on the first and latest attempts, latterly over C&D, and he was miles out of the handicap when pulled up on penultimate start, considered despite a poor record on good ground in bumpers and over hurdles.

1-7 in points and 0-10 under rules, took a minor honour over 2m4f on heavy at Leicester in late February for the second year running, this time after 286 days off, but he does not look the percentage call.

0-9 overall but second on a variety of ground at Fontwell (2m3f), Fakenham (2m) and Sandown (2m4f) in three consecutive starts this winter, flop in first-time cheekpieces here (extended 2m5f) last time is the big worry but he has a huge shout on those earlier performances.

Ran out two from home in consecutive races late last year, confirmed he has plenty of ability when third at Doncaster (2m, good to soft) in January, covered up as he made his way from rear, and raced too freely when upped to 2m7f for handicap debut at Ascot (good) six weeks ago, there's a big rethink on trip today and he is one of the top three on ratings.

Placed in three of his Irish points and minor honours in all three bumpers, while hurdling debut at Lingfield (2m, heavy) in January was satisfactory, he disappointed there (2m3f, soft) next time and none of his form makes him a leading contender today.

Showed significant ability in three bumpers, particularly at Kempton (soft) latest, however, although third of nine on hurdle debut at Southwell (2m, good to soft) early this month, he finished an awfully long way behind the first two, needs to step up dramatically from that performance.

The cheekpieces went on for his last two starts and he's raised his game, winning in small fields at Wincanton (2m4f, soft, by 16l) and Taunton (extended 2m5f, soft, comfortably) 12 days later, won a maiden hurdle on good to soft in April 2023 but has raced on only soft or heavy since, that seems to ask as much of a question as latest 6lb rise, but he's shortlisted.

Won this month over C&D (soft, from Royal Mer) and back here (2m2f, good) 11 days later, wore first-time cheekpieces last time, both wins were in small fields but his career seems to be taking off again and he's respected despite the clear need for better still under 7lb penalty.

4-6 at Hereford and has never scored anywhere else but he was short-headed at Uttoxeter in November, last month's win (2m3f, good to soft) was his first for over two years and his best form for almost as long, also his first chase win at 12th attempt, but the runner-up scored next time and they were miles clear of the third, so going back up 5lb does not rule him out.

Won easily here (2m6f, heavy) in January when back over fences for his second start for this stable, didn't jump well over hurdles next time but third in a chase at Ffos Las (2m4f) was much more like it again and he did win on good ground one year ago, considered each-way.
